Talented young Singaporean driver Pavan Ravishankar will make his BRDC British Formula 3 Championship debut with Double R Racing coming weekend (23rd/24th September) during the 2017 season finale at Donington Park.
The 18-year-old, who makes the step-up into F3 competition from Asian Formula Renault and the MRF Challenge, will pilot the Tatuus-Cosworth which was steered to race victory at the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit in August by Indian driver Krishnaraaj Mahadik.
Joining Double R Racing regulars Jamie Chadwick and Guilherme Samaia for the final three races of the season at Donington’s full length GP track, Ravishankar heads into the race meeting relishing the prospect of racing at the Leicestershire venue for the first time and with an eye on 2018 too.
Beginning his motorsport career in karting at the age of 11-years-old, in 2013 Ravishankar finished third overall in the Singapore Junior Karting Championship and remained in the category the following year where he took a top five finish in the standings.
Claiming his first title in 2015, becoming Singapore Rotax Open Champion, he also claimed the Vice-Champion’s position in the Singapore X30 Challenge and was third in the Singapore ROK Cup, as well as fifth in the Asian Open Kart Championship in Macau.
Graduating into single-seater car racing last year, Ravishankar finished fourth in the Asian Formula Renault Championship, with several podiums, and this year has dovetailed continued participation in Asian Formula Renault with outings in MRF Challenge Formula 2000.
